Where was Shaun of the Dead Filmed

As far as zombie movies go, there have been some ultimate greats, and there have been some definite flops. One film which is undoubtedly a great is Shaun of the Dead. This movie is an absolute classic, and one of the funniest movies that exist. It follows an incredibly basic storyline, but the first of Edgar Wright’s Cornetto trilogy has to be one of the most successful zombie films around.

The film has a simple premise as we follow Shaun, a man who leads an incredibly basic life, living with his slobby best friend, Ed, as he continually disappoints his lovely girlfriend, Liz. Shaun’s life is a bit like groundhog day, as he continually leads a boring life in a town that is full of people who have very little awareness of what is going on in the world around them. The film has a truly hilarious script and has produced some of the most classic movie lines that exist. So let’s take a look at some of the locations where the movie was filmed so that in the event of a zombie apocalypse, you can “Go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all this to blow over”.

The film itself is based in North London, a far distance from the hustle and bustle of the City of London, and the movie was filmed in the same area that it was set. Specifically, the movie is based in the Crouch End area of North London, and you will be able to visit Shaun and Ed’s flat at 83 Nelson Road, Weston Park, N8.

Quite a few of the filming locations for this film are within walking distance of one another, and this is true of the Grocery Store that Shaun visits. In the film we see Shaun visit the store two times, both times, Shaun pays no attention and fails to notice anything that is going on around him which is quite symbolic of the technological age we live in now. If you want to visit the Grocery Store you will find it across the road from Shaun’s flat, at Weston Park Grocery, 96 Weston Park.

After realizing that zombies have taken over, Shaun and Ed plan to “go to Mum’s” and “Kill Phil”. You will find their home at 37 Abbots Gardens, East Finchley which isn’t too far from some other locations.

Two other prominent locations you may choose to visit are Liz’s apartment block and the electronics shop where Shaun world. You can find Liz’s apartment block at Cunningham House, Hillcrest, North Hill, N6. A little further afield you will find Shaun’s place of work at High Road, North Finchley.

Finally, we see the protagonists head to their favorite place, the Winchester. This is the pub that is central to the entire film’s plot, and even though things do not go to plan, it is where the film wraps up. The pub used as “The Winchester” is located south of the Thames and was known as the Duke of Albany pub. Unfortunately, since filming took place the pub has shut down, and it has been converted into flats, however, you can still find the place where the Winchester stood at 39 Monson Road, Barlborough Street, SE14.
