The film follows a group of friends that attended the University of Michigan together, as they are reunited in the untimely suicide of one of their friends. The film follows the group as their friendships become reignited.

The Big Chill features a range of big stars including Glenn Close, Tom Berenger and Jeff Goldblum, and was largely filmed in South Carolina.
